From 1990 through 1998, Mr. Herzog was the managing attorney in the Phoenix Field Litigation Office for the CIGNA Property & Casualty Companies. Once again, as the managing attorney for CIGNA, Mr. Herzog defended individuals and companies insured by CIGNA in a wide range of litigations, including all types of personal injury actions. He also represented CIGNA in various coverage disputes, including coverage disputes arising in personal injury and property damage claims, and arising under ERISA. Mr. Herzog has tried numerous personal injury actions involving claims of serious injury, including death. He has tried cases involving automobile injuries, premises liability, products liability, dram shop liability and employment discrimination.
In 1999, Michael Herzog and Mark O’Connor formed the law firm of Herzog and O’Connor P.C. The firm concentrated its practice in the areas of personal injury and insurance defense litigation. During his ten (10) years as a senior partner with Herzog and O’Connor, Mr. Herzog maintained his active practice in personal injury litigation and insurance coverage. He also engaged in an active practice as a mediator and arbitrator.
On July 1, 2009, Mr. Herzog established The Herzog Law Firm. The firm focuses on personal injury litigation and insurance coverage litigation. Mr. Herzog continues to provide mediation and arbitration services. Mr. Herzog has been actively involved in litigation in Maricopa County, Arizona for 30 years, during which time he has represented both individual litigants and some of the largest companies in the world.

Michael W. Herzog has been practicing law in Phoenix, Arizona, since receiving his Juris Doctor from Arizona State University College of Law in 1979. Mr. Herzog is a certified specialist in injury and wrongful death litigation (Arizona Board of Legal Specialization). He is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory and in 2009 he was once again selected as a Southwest Super Lawyer by Law and Politics Magazine. He has served as a judge pro tempore, civil division, Maricopa County Superior Court, since 1988. He is a member of the Arizona State Bar and Maricopa County Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in the state courts of Arizona; United States District Court for the District of Arizona; United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit; and the Supreme Court of the United States of America.

During that time he handled a wide variety of litigation and represented numerous insurance companies. From 1984 through 1990, Mr. Herzog was employed by Transamerica Insurance Group as its managing attorney for the state of Arizona. As the managing attorney for Transamerica, Mr. Herzog represented and defended insureds of Transamerica in all types of personal injury litigation, and represented Transamerica in numerous insurance coverage disputes, including claims of bad faith.
